Pickwick and other celebrations

We spent Labor Day weekend at Pickwick with family and friends. It was tons of fun, and the cast of characters is long.
Words won't do the weekend justice, so take a look at the different pictures below.

Weekend parties!

This weekend was F-U-N!!! So much to do, so little time.

Friday night we went to a celebration for Emily Fleming Woods's 28th birthday. Emily got married at the beginning of August, and she & her husband live in our neighborhood. We celebrated her big day with a great party. There was corn hole, ping pong (kinda), and swimming.

Saturday night was equally as fun. When you start with Maggiano's for dinner, the night could only get better. The girls all got together and went to see Sugarland & Keith Urban. Sugarland was amazing!!!! We were soooo darn close to Keith, we could almost touch him. With Nashville being his primary residence, he went out of his way to make the concert fun.

We rounded out Sunday with a celebration for my birthday. Drew coordinated a family get-together, and made sure that there was cake. Oh, and, there were relighting candles. Drew thought he was going to get one over on me -- Yeah, it didn't happen. Before the candles were lit, I had figured out that these weren't ordinary candles.

The weekend was fan-tastic! This weekend will be better....we are going to the LAKE @ Pickwick Dam.
More to follow.....

Ahoy Matey!

This weekend we went to the lake -- We took Oscar, Ross, and Heidi&Nate. Tooling around the lake on a lazy Saturday....ain't nuttin' better. We tied up with some friends who decided to camp last night. Wow, they are brave. No way would I plan a camping trip in the summer.
Speaking of yesterday. It was super duper fun....Too bad that Summer is coming to an end. We are bummed that we have limited weekends on the lake :(
OH WELL! Our summer has been great, even if its gone waaaay to fast. We are hoping for a wonderful fall, and can't wait to keep on enjoying every bit of it!!!

Heidi& Nate, trusty deckhands --- Um, well, deckhands nevertheless.

Oscar Boo-Boo, our First Mate. Ever watchful over his friends and family.
Ross, the boat's bosun. Not to be confused with bozo.

Oscar thought he saw some pirates - Talking about barking up a storm....I mean, you see the storm clouds right? He was furryious. We were soooo glad he was around. His bark scared them off.
My captain, the Hubs! He kept everyone under control, and got us home safely. We couldn't have a better or more trusted man guiding us around the lake.

Other than the fun we had at the lake, this week was uneventful. Nothing fun to report, and nothing bad happened.

Hello family plan......

.....okay, so no, I don't mean we are becoming a family. These are our only kids.
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb.

Drew and I spent all week reorganizing bills, merging bank accounts, finishing moving furniture, and updating cell phone services. Needless to say, we were FRUSTRATED!!
I no longer have a nice, cool, clean parking space. I now have more storage for furniture. And its not even the good kind -- Its fratty furniture! LOL. Actually most of Drew's furniture is nice and will be used again. Its the other, ' honey I don't want to part with the Futon,' stuff that is sitting in the 'what was my and is now our' garage. Merging, I mean, marriage is fun!
All kidding aside, I took an advanced negotiation class thru work this week. Learned alot of stuff. So after Drew locked himself out our AT&T account, I decided to use some of my newly learned skills on AT&T. They apparently were refusing to talk with him because he guessed the wrong code. I think that they missed the part that he wanted to PAY (on time of course) them and had QUESTIONS about the BILL. Hmmm....well, for AT&T my skills didn't work. Drew and I finally got so frustrated, that he cancelled his personal AT&T service plan....Vowing never, ever to actively seek out service from AT&T and to slowly take away all of the business he was doing with AT&T. Riiiight....we'll just see how the mega-conglomerate survives without the Muirheads.
So Drew got a new phone -- Its a Blackberry Curve. Merging names and checking accounts at the bank was much easier. It took about 5 minutes. Love SunTrust!!!

Three years ago

My nephew, Eli Thomas, was born last Thursday. Eli is perfect and such a beautiful baby. My sister is doing much better, and is recovery from the scare she gave us really well. We are thrilled that everyone is doing great.

This weekend was such a wonderful walk down memory lane.
Drew and I celebrated the third year since we met on Saturday at the festival on the Hilton Lawn. We had such a good time at this year's event, especially since they offered two sessions.
We went with Stacey, who was a crucial part of mine and Drew's meeting. Oh, and Ross joined us.
Then we stayed out late in downtown Nashville visiting The Stage and Paradise Park.

On Sunday, we visited with The Douglas's and it was super fun. They have two adorable, little girls and such a great space to raise them.
After celebrating the weekend, we've been hanging out at home and working.
More later....Brittany and Drew

In the last week....

So, we have been a bit of a slacking family - Things have been rolling along, though quite slowly.

Drew and I have been spending night after night after night trying to determine where the heck our stuff is going to go. Faced with the reality of moving into one already jammed packed house. I do wish that I had the pictures of how the house looked when I got back home from a business trip that departed 24 hours after we got back from the honeymoon. Though selling our house is an option, we aren't sure how the downturn in the market will effect us. Its still up for debate. Though my husband was quite upset when he found that the house we soooo desparately wanted 4 months ago is now back on the market for 20% more than what it was listed for. Hindsight isn't 20-20 in this case - Its more like a ....More on that later....

We developed some of the cameras from the wedding....Though 11 of them are still MIA. Wonder who might have them??? We are still looking for the camera that took pictures of Savage's glasses....what is that saying about a revolving door? One can only imagine. Don't worry I 'll post them once I find them. Though there are two pictures floating around FB of those glasses....Ladies, the camera please.

Drew's comment: Disposable cameras...What's the worst that could happen?

Hmmm...well, here is a tame view of one of the pictures. We did see some mischevious looking shots of guests. Those will be great pictures to show your kids of how mommy and daddy used to behave before you were around. They say that Revenge is sweet....Blackmail is sweeter, oh so much sweeter.

Nevertheless, last week was great. Saturday was spent on the lake with Deena, Harrison, Ross (formerly known as IBBW), and Josh.

We also got to see Kennedy Leigh Millslagle. Daughter of a very dear friend of mine. She is a cutie pie. Though I made her cry, which was mortifying. Amy and Kevin make such cute parents.

Rounding out last week, we celebrated Stacey's 29th birtday. Afterall a girl never grows older than 29. Dinner at the Yellow Porch followed by a night out at Cadillac Ranch. Though it was only my second time there, it was quite fun. Then again they played the ELECTRIC SLIDE. Drew teased me about it, since I insisted that we 'learn it' with the parentals during our pre-wedding dance lessons. And, yes, I will admit that I begged my poor husband to take me to the STAGE. We didn't make it, but are planning on it this weekend. We are celebrating the first day we met. Just look at us now....'Old, married people' as the Harrisons would say.

Speaking of OMP, my sister is anxiously awaiting the birth of her 2nd kid. I am sure that pictures will get posted once he arrives.

That's all for now......

Meet the Muirheads

After we got married on June 20th, we decided that we would start a blog. We don't really know what we are doing or how to do it, but we are going to try it.

At little bit about our engagement, wedding, and honeymoon.....

Drew and I got engaged on August 13, 2008, which was a Wednesday. It was a complete shock when Drew proposed....No one expects that they'd get engaged on a Wednesday night. Drew and I planned to meet at my house before going to dinner at his parents house.

Drew beat me to my house and decorated my room with roses and candles. There was so much decoration that my dog was too scared to come in the room. I, as usual, was running 30 minutes later than I thought I would from work.
By the time that I got home, Drew had lit and re-lit the candles three times to keep them from dripping. Unbeknownst to me, He was anxiously awaiting my arrival.
When I walked in the door, I could not find Drew. But Oscar led me to him. I was so shocked that I said 'What's going on here?' Drew murmured some mushy things and asked me to marry him. I obviously said 'Yes!' We called my family and some of our friends.
Oh, and we were having dinner at his parents house. They had no clue what was in store for them! We decided to surprise them, too. And we did.

After August 13th, we spent the next 10 months planning our wedding. We decided to get married in the Methodist church on West End Avenue that we had been attending. The perfect setting for a traditional wedding, with a couple of elegant lagniappes. We set our reception location for the Embassy Suites in Franklin.

The wedding colors were black and white. We were thorough with all of the details down to the black and white dots on the cake that coordinated with the flower girl's dress.

The weekend of the wedding came and went, and it was definitely a whirlwind. We had the best time and are so glad that we had the big, traditional wedding. Our families travelled from near and far to celebrate with us, as did our friends. We are so blessed to have such supportive friends and family!

There were not any major disasters, only anecdotes that will be fun to remember and talk about for the next 50 years. Especially some of our more whitty friends and one of the groomsmen's sunglasses. We think that there is an entire roll of film dedicated to said sunglasses. More on that later, which should include pictures.
The honeymoon was better than we ever imagined it would or could be. We went to Riviera Maya (aka Cancun). We stayed in the all inclusive Excellence Resort, which was fantastic. We ate, drank, and spent some R&R time with each other.
We did meet some very fun couples on the trip, and are trying to keep in touch with them.
We brought home some fat Mexicans (tiny, fat statues) that are displayed on our outside patio.
Oh, and we did go to a tequila tasting and for a short snorkeling trip. The tequila tasting, while the snorkeling was terrifying for me. Drew was fascinated with all of the pretty fish, while I was on the lookout for Jaws.

Now we are settling into married life. Its great! And we couldn't be happier....Well, um, ok, so slight correction. We could be happier, if our house was a little bigger.

More to come.....
